Day 14: Denver Part IV
Today is Mabry's Birthday so we started out the day with a traditional pancake breakfast. Ever since we were small kids my mom used to make us pancakes in the shapes of numbers for our birthday. For example, when we turned 8 we got 8 pancakes in the shape of the number 8. Rachel has continued this tradition with her kids, so since it was her first birthday, she had one pancake in the shape of the #1.
After breakfast we headed out to Colorado Springs. We decided to take the kids to the North Pole. This is once again a place none of us have ever been. Justin and I tried the last time we were here, but it was raining and we did not feel like getting soaked. And after my experience today, its a good thing we did not go. Lincoln is not truly big enough to appreciate it and the both of us are not big fans of the circle type rides.
But that being the case, the kids loved it! They could have stayed there all day long. The North Pole Amusement park was a lot bigger than we expected. There were a ton of rides, but once again the majority of them were built to go in a circle. And although I have never been a fan of traveling in a circle, as I get older I swear my equilibrium gets even more sensitive! So I can not say that I actually rode very many rides.
I did take Lincoln on the Santa Slide and the North Pole Express. But most of the rides he went on were only for kids. So he got to drive a car, ride in a boat, travel in a plane, ride on a carousel and ferris wheel, as well as a race car. These rides were great because all the adults could watch and all the kids could ride! (You had to be at least a year old and under 54" to ride the kiddie rides. So Mabry just made the age cutoff today and Rydman was right under the height restriction. So it was perfect! Any other year and Rydman would not have been able to ride!)
Like I said before it was hard to pull them off the rides. But we needed to get going to make it back to Denver in time for the girls to go with Cody Ann and her girls to the Salon! They were going to get their nails done!
We took the other kids to the park and then went to dinner with GiGi and my Uncle Pete. It is always nice to see family, but sometimes it is hard to try and control a 13 month old that only wants to get down and run around the restaurant!

It has been fun keeping track of your trip. Tell all the kids hi for us and congrats to Emerie. She looks even cuter with that darling hole in her smile! Also, tell your mom thanks so much for the postcard. Camp and Jane were so excited--especially because they just got a new puzzle with Mt. Rushmore on it!
We can't wait to see you guys!
